A LONG Race
Yet another Tri to add to my experience. This was definitely the longest/hardest thing I've ever done (1mile swim-35mile bike-10miles run). Following the photos is my unofficial "race report", if you're interested.
Had my first bike crash the Wednesday before this Saturday race...here I'm showing off my Tegaderm covered road rash.

Water was REALLY cold. I heard 52-54 degrees. And it was really choppy too.

Pics of the end...with my friend "Corvette Yvette".
And a pic with a new friend Julia.I only remember bits and pieces of the race. I don't remember getting there, setting up, warming up or starting at all. I remember one point of the swim, sighting the 3rd buoy and then trying to sight again only to finally realize (very confused) that it was behind me already. It was shortly after that when I wanted to give up because the next buoy took forever...I kept thinking maybe I could just cut across to shore and no one would notice. The swim turn around became REALLY choppy. I was really bored and my neck really bothered me despite the bi-lateral breathing. Just before the last buoy I took in a LOT of water and had to fight not to throw up.
The next thing I recall was having a really hard time taking off my booties because I had no strength in my frozen hands. I was nearly sobbing as I left on my bike from the cold. Thank God another friend Desa was waiting for me (watching) and her words of encouragement (or just to have someone there to witness my suffering) made it a little better.
I don't remember much of the bike except being stuck behind a manure truck...which I drafted for a half mile or so and warmed up a little from the exhaust. I kept waiting for all these "climbs" that I had heard about and didn't really notice until they said I was at the top and it was mostly easy from then on out. Still didn't want to push it on the bike because I didn't know what I'd have left for running. Coming into T2 through a residential area there was a recreational cyclist. I shouted "On your left!" twice...so he moved left. We hooked handlebars and I agrgessively shouldered him away...sorry dude! I don't know if he fell, but it was either him or me. I was pissed, what a retard! I was unable to eat much more than a mouthful of Gu, some Hammer drink and half a bottle of water with salt tabs.
I don't remember T2...I definitely didn't rush. Tried to find an open public restroom (stopped three times). My heart rate was sky high for the first 3 miles and I thought I was going to keel over. A gal in front of me tripped and fell so (needing a rest anyway) I played "good sport" and helped her up and walked a bit with her. We ran the rest of the way together and she kept me going, albeit a slow 9:30min/mile pace. Ate nothing on the run and only drank about 10 oz water...my stomach issues were so close to flaring up that I didn't dare risk it. Yay, all done, can't wait to sign up for it again???

Dance Class...all about Zoey

Some of her best dance moves...

Uh, the chicken dance?

And then some kind of interpretive dance thing I can't figure out...note, all the other girls are standing and if I hadn't cropped out their heads you see them gaping at her wondering what the heck she's doing and if they should maybe join her on the floor.
