First Birthday Parties

Here's the cakes that Mom made (one for Mom and one for Zoey)...pretty embarrassing...I see a cake decorating class in my future...but they served their purpose. I ate a lot of cake and had to "do hard (cardio) time" for it and Zoey got to smash and eat some too. Vince was freaking out about the potential mess but it wasn't too bad. Straight to the shower...you just can't see below her shoulders to see how bad it got. Note: Red frosting stains, as does red velvet cake. Stick to white cake and frsoting next time!

Then on Sunday (March 11th) Charlie's Mom and Dad hosted a birthday party for both babies since they were born exactly 4 hours apart. Here they are playing with Charlie's horsie.

Eating more cake with mom.
Mingling at the party.

The picture to the left is Julia...Charlie's Mom. Too bad Charlie's not in the picture because then it would have been perfect! Below are just some group shots. It was a HUGE party, especially for a couple toddlers! And a lot of work for the Balcom's. Thank you for including us! We all had a great time.

Here's Nana Jean and Poppa Lionel. If you click on the "Poppa" picture you can see the new nose wrinkle smile she does. Where did she get that? Do I do that?

And this is after the party, at home when we (I) opened all the gifts. The paper was SO much fun!!! And it tasted pretty good too.

12 Months Old?!

A lot of stuff has "solidified" since last post on casadelopez.net. I mean, as if getting on skis wasn't enough already, she's definitely a walker now. Here's just some cute poses in the yard. And just a reminder for the distant family and grandparents...just click on these photos to enlarge then right click and "save as". Jean, have Vince show you next time he's there.

Looks like Dad in the photo with the blue sweater.

I think she looks like Uncle Kevin in the second one.

The 80's outfits are coming back...check out the long sweatshirt and leggings with ballet flats...what a trendy gal!

Oh, and this isn't the first time Zoey was on a horse. She was on Maikel at about three months for just a pose. Now Maikel (the best horse in the Universe) belongs to a lovely person named Emily who spoils him as much as I did. She was so kind as to let us go for a quick trot. Mr. Maikel had at least one ear on us the whole time but was a perfect gentleman...so much so that I was ready to go to the canter...and why not? Maikel's trot produced so many belly laughs from Zoey that she had the hiccups the whole ride home. Next time maybe?

Zoey got her first cold.
But not even that can keep this girl from smiling for the camera.
There's no place like Mom...

Update

OK, two blogs to maintain is way too much for me, so I'm going to alternate between the two. Check both when you get the time. I'll send e-mail notification as to which one I update.

Last of the 10 Month Pics

OK, this is the last of the 10 month stuff...yep, she can stand on her own two feet now but has yet to take a step forward. She's a climber folks! She'd rather go over than around...I can appreciate that.

Bath at Chez Tootz

Oooh, a claw-foot tub and everything!

But the towel warmer isn't working! Garcon?!??

OK, they have Aveeno Baby...I'll let the towel warmer issue slide.

Just in Case

I have to include this photo on the off-chance that she ends up at Juliard as a pianist. She loves ANY kind of piano keyboard...or maybe just wishful thinking on my part?

Thank You

OK, thank you to Uncle Kev for the hundreds on miles he put on his car. I should have made him a bumper sticker that said: "Will drive for naps". At least once a day we took an hour drive for Zoey's precious nap time...a well rested baby sleeps better at night...so they say. The second thanks goes out to Peggy M. who made the hat and scarf that accompanied PZ on all her journey's.

Snow Time

Big boots to fill.

So bundled up she can barely move.

Uncle Kev looking like he's posing for a "Land's End" catalog.

I need to ask my friend Allison to "Photoshop" in a Mt. Everest background to match the look of determination on her face. LOL
This snow is REALLY icy. I can't do anything with it. :-((

Special Tribute to Mammaw Cheryl

Here's Mammaw Cheryl (and I don't know if I'm spelling that right, Mom). There a a lot of pictures where Zoey looks a lot like her Gramma Cheryl. I can definitely see some similarities.

But I have to put this photo on the site...sorry Mom. Let's hope that if Zoey is a bowler we can teach her better form...not that I can talk though...you whupped my butt in both games!

But since bowling was part of Kevin's Bday celebration, I'll go ahead and include the rest...especially since the birth of Kevin is, in and of itself, a tribute to Mammaw Cheryl.
Here's Auntie Kris and PZ (PZ=Princess Zoey) And Uncle Kev holding PZ while I "bowl"...soon to be stomped on the nuts...notice Zoey is looking down to perfect her aim.

I was losing so badly...but having a great time at it, I might mention...I let Zoey bowl my last frames. I don't remember exactly, but I think she did OK.
